The Axcel Story

Axcel traces its roots to 1985, when machinist Greg Summers founded S&S Machine in Amherst County, Virginia. A decade later, in 1995, that machining know-how was redirected toward archery, and the first Axcel bow sight was born.

Now operating as T.R.U. Ball/AXCEL Archery alongside son Ben Summers, the family-run company grew from a small shop into a global supplier of sights, scopes, and stabilizers used by Olympic medalists and weekend bowhunters.

Since 2015, Axcel has served as the Official Sight of World Archery, a recognition earned through consistent precision engineering and a longstanding commitment to sponsoring archery at every level of the sport.

Frequently Asked Questions

Common questions about Axcel bow sights, setup, and compatibility.

What is Axcel known for in archery?

Axcel is recognized for precision-machined bow sights with minimal backlash and durable construction. The brand has served as the Official Sight of World Archery since 2015 and equips both Olympic competitors and recreational bowhunters.

Should a hunter choose a single pin or multi pin sight?

Single pin sights like the AccuTouch give a clean sight picture and exact yardage once dialed, favoring open-country hunting. Multi pin sights such as the Armortech suit close-range treestand hunting where distances change quickly.

How is an Axcel sight tape calibrated?

Mark the slider position at 20 yards and again at 60 yards where arrows hit center, then match those points to a printed or metal sight tape. Verify accuracy at 30, 40, and 50 yards before hunting or competing.

Are Axcel sights suitable for target archery?

Yes. Lines such as Achieve and AccuTouch are built for tournament rounds, offering repeatable micro-adjustments and clear scope housings favored by competitive target and 3D archers.

Where are Axcel bow sights manufactured?

Axcel sights are manufactured in the United States, a practice the company maintains for tighter quality control and dependable availability of replacement parts and accessories.

Do Axcel sights work on both compound and recurve bows?

Axcel produces dedicated compound sights alongside recurve versions adopted by Olympic-level archers, so the lineup covers both disciplines rather than a single bow type.

Dialed in fast and hasn’t drifted since. Best sight I’ve owned for 3D rounds.

Man touching his dark hair

The micro-adjust is smooth and precise. Holds zero even after a rough elk hunt.

Switched from a cluttered multi pin and the sight picture is so much cleaner now.
